Wat Phanan Choeng
The first temple we visited was Wat Phanan Cho©≈<δeng, which has a 19-meter-high Buddha•φ figure that is especially important to♥φ Thais of Chinese descent. The temple wasα★® built shortly before•• Ayutthaya was established as t★¶he Kingdom’s capital. There ÷α£βare still a lot of locals vis≈ ☆iting the temple, and we§↓ couldn’t enter completely because there¥× was a service going on. ★™∏Right next to the temple you can find ππ€the Wat Phra Sri Sanphet, here we saw t↓"★hree large stupas. This ₹←Temple served as a mode★₽₩l for Bangkok’s Temple of the Emerald Buddha.
The second Temple, Wat M >↓ahathat, “The Temple of the Great Ω÷Relic,” was one of the most important on the islaε€®nd of Ayutthaya. It encased Buddha relics ≥♠and served as the seat of the Supreme Patriarch ↓©§of Buddhism, making it the centre of Buddhism in ÷ the Ayutthaya Kingdom ≈.
Wat Ratchaburana, or “Temple of t£δhe Royal Restoration,” w£α 'as the third temple we visiΩ✔ted. It is the oldes♥×∞ t Temple in the province and one of the royal ©" monasteries constructed d↑₽α₽uring the Ayutthaya period. ↔↓There are still a lot of exquisite bronze λ™≠♣Buddha sculptures and✔∏ gold artefacts that belong to two pri∏ nces who died at a young ε♠age in this enormous temple.
We finished our journey at Wat Yai C↕♣hai Mongkhon, which is still a function"λ£ing temple with monks who live in kuti on theδ∏ grounds. Thai people come©• to temple to pay their respeφcts not just to Buddha, but also ÷∏to one of Thailand’s mos± t revered rulers, King Naresuan€©™ the Great.
